Last year, the North Atlanta Toys For Tots program opened a warehouse in Gwinnett County and did an extemely outstanding job, meeting and exceeding expectations. The warehouse is located on Lavall Blvd, in Lawrenceville.
Our Detachment supports the warehouse by providing workers and supervision to volunteer work crews performing specific tasks. There is a dedicated warehouse manager, receptionist, and volunteer coordinator. We support these outstanding volunteers, and we need your help.
We need our members to contact their friends, family, associates etc. and organize groups of 2-30 volunteers to assist in this years distribution of thousands and thousands of toys!!
Our Detachment will supervise and perform the following duties.
Sorting - Toys are delivered in bulk to the warehouse and are staged for sorting. Toys are sorted into boxes specific to age group and gender. When boxes are full, toys are bulk bagged as sorted and staged in another area for filling orders.
Filling Orders - The warehouse manager will provide us with orders to be filled, we will fill a box of toys (or boxes, of toys) and stage the filled order with a copy of the order on the outside of the box. The filled and marked box/es will be staged in the distrubtion bays according to the scheduled pick up times for each box.
Distribution - As organizations arrive to receive their requested toys, they will be required to process a bit of paper work with the receptionist. When advised by receptionist, the boxes making up that order will be released to the organization requesting the toys.
I am looking forward to your support! THANK YOU and may many, many more young children have a very Merry Christmas.
Semper Fidelis,
Jeff Covert

FAQ:
How many people do we need? Any single person is helpful. Groups of friends work better together and the time is passed more quickly.
Who should I contact? Family members, colleagues at work, your childrens school, you car club, customers, your church, who ever you do things with, and would like to assist.
What if I am only available once or twice? Thanks, even one evening of four hours is greatly appreciated.
What if I am available alot? We do need volunteer supervisors to know the stations and be able to train, manage and supervise volunteers and resources. Last year Tony, Jeff, or Lori maintained a presence during almost all operating hours. If we had more of us, that would be great.
What are the hours, and how long will I be there? Normally four hour shifts, evenings during the week, and on the weekend there will be morning and afternoon shifts. You are more than welcome to work as little as an hour or as much as you are willing.
How do I schedule myself or a group? Great questions, the details will be available early September. Right now, you can start the ball rolling by identifying volunteers.
My Church wants to sponsor some families who may need toys this year, how do I qualify or oganization? I will get an answer to you as soon as possible. I believe the deadline this year is mid October to qualify your organization.
